Your privacy, explained.
A privacy notice for the Dealio Dispatch Mac beta.
Email us about privacyWho we are
Dealio Dispatch is provided by Matthew Deal, a sole trader. For privacy enquiries, email 36.catnaps_legumes@icloud.com. This notice covers the Mac beta, feedback and support.
Your event records stay on your Mac
Dealio stores event and equipment records locally on the Mac running the app. Depending on what you enter, these may include names, departments, roles, contact details, photographs, notes, equipment assignments, returns and operator activity. These records support equipment management and reporting. The app does not automatically send your event database to Matthew Deal. Please use fictional records during beta testing.
Who is responsible for those records?
The person or organisation using Dealio to manage an event decides what personal information to enter, why it is needed, who may access it and how long to keep it. Contact that organiser about its records. Matthew Deal cannot remotely access or erase its local database.
Passwords and access
Administrator passwords and operator PINs are stored as salted hashes, not readable passwords. Recovery codes are also hashed. These controls protect access within the app; they do not encrypt the event database. The person managing the Mac is responsible for device security, backups and exported files.
Camera, weather, email and exports
Camera: With permission, Dealio can take a photograph for a user record and save it locally.
Weather: With location permission, Dealio uses the Mac’s location to request weather from Apple WeatherKit. Permission can be changed in macOS System Settings.
Email: When you request a receipt, Dealio passes the recipient address and receipt contents to your email app. You review and send the message. Your email provider handles it under its own privacy terms.
Printing and exports: You control where printed labels, reports and exported files go and who can access them.
TestFlight and support
Apple’s TestFlight service collects testing information, including crash reports and usage information, and makes relevant information available to the developer. Feedback may include contact details, comments and screenshots. Matthew Deal uses this information to investigate problems, respond to testers and improve the app. Do not include real client records, passwords or recovery codes in feedback.
Privacy and support emails are handled through Apple’s iCloud email service and forwarded to Matthew Deal’s mailbox.
Why feedback is processed
For feedback and support information under Matthew Deal’s control, the basis is legitimate interests: responding to enquiries, resolving faults and improving Dealio Dispatch. Only information needed for those purposes should be used. You can object by contacting the privacy email address. Event organisers are responsible for identifying their own lawful basis for event records.
How long information is kept
Matthew Deal deletes feedback and support correspondence once it has been acted upon or a decision has been made that no action is needed. In all cases, copies under Matthew Deal’s control are retained for no longer than six months from receipt. This includes downloaded reports and retained copies of emails. Apple manages information in its services under its own retention policies.
Local event records remain until removed. Archiving a user hides the record from the active list but retains it for history: it is not deletion. Backups, exports, printed labels and sent emails are separate copies. Deleting the application alone may not remove its stored records.
